Also remove all unnecessary compilers, and disable unnecessary services from system-config-services

Make sure the system is fully up to date on patches with up2date or an internal yum repo if you maintain such a thing.

You can also, increase the security enabling "Security Enhanced Linux", already included in Red Hat.

Information about SELinux can be found in the Red Hat Documentation page.

There are a lot of security resources, all depends of the purpose of your server and what you want to secure. It's an Internet server?, Is security for an internal application or database server? How strict you want your security policy?

The Centre for Internet Security has benchmark documents that are developed in a consensus based fashion. These include scripts for use with Bastille (thanks Stephen!) as well as other more targetted scripts that are not included in the Bastille code set.
