Security education for the new generation

Educating the next generation of computer scientists to understand the important role security plays in designing, building, testing, and deploying systems must be a critical priority for both universities and the IT industry. If you agree, join me at RSA Conference 2014 in San Francisco in session MASH-W02, room 3018 West at 9:20am on 2/26 for a frank treatment of the state of security education today and a look to the future of what it will take to create a new generation of security experts.

In this session, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about topics ranging from best practices for teaching security concepts to ways industry, academia, and government can collaborate most effectively to achieve common goals. The session will also touch on security concepts that we feel every computer scientist must know and distinguish between teaching how to do core tasks securely versus security as its own field of study. Along the way we’ll have the opportunity to share anecdotes about the challenges graduates face when adjusting to workplaces where security is a priority.

I look forward to speaking with you!
