C2 installation

I have to upgrade to C2 (enhanced) security on an Alpha server running Tru64 V5.1B base security. I have over 1100 users - when I upgrade will the users be able to logon with their old passwords or will they have to be manually reset - if so is there any way round this or a better way of managing the chaos to the call centre when 1100 users cannot log on.
Thanks in advance

Glenn

Re: C2 installation

Use "edauth -g -dd" to check the default template.
The keyword of interest is u_psw_change_reqd (see man prpasswd). To disable "change required" the keyword must be followed by the "@" sign.

To change it, do as follows:

# export TERM=vt100
# export EDITOR=vi
# edauth -dd default

[ add the @-sign and :wq from vi ]
The file that you are changing this way is /etc/auth/system/default.

Re: C2 installation

Just to clarify, when you go to Enhanced Security your users will be able to login using their old passwords, you will not have to reset them. But if you don't clear the password change required field as Johan described, each user will be required to change their own password the first time they log in.
