Can HP-UX 11.31 be configured to use AD based domain credentials to log in WITHOUT kerberos?

We are trying to create a very tiny test environment using a couple HP-UX B.11.31 U ia64 3289068824 unlimited-user license vms.

We want the users to log in with their domain credentials.  We have 2 Windows Server 2008R2 AD servers with the unix attributes installed.  We currently have Linux and AIX vms set up to log in with their domain credentials; those have been functioning great for a few years.

Is there an easy way to configure the HP-UX 11.31 vm that does NOT involve kerberos?  Everything I keep finding seems to involve kerberos which we don't want to set up and configure.

Samba/Winbind would be great but I am struggling to find a guide that steps through from start to finish.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You already have your Kerberos servers: AD is basically Kerberos + LDAP + dynamic DNS.

Hi,

Indeed you can't authentificate on hpux using ldapux  if you don't configure kerberos when server is a ADs. Not sure what is the problem with that. You can use  domain password to login when this is configured

use CIFS/samba/windbind  for other auth capabilities.
