LDAP object class error

Hi,

I'm settting up LDAP server/client on two 5.1b boxes. Here's the error message running ldap_check on the client side:

Loaded Configuration file /etc/ldapcd.conf
Connected to LDAP server on xxxxx
Search base "xxxx" confirmed
Error: searching for object classes failed
Errors detected during directory configureation check.

I checked the ldapcd.conf file, the pw_oclass is posixAccount, gr_oclass is posixGroup, are these values have anything to do with the error?

Re: LDAP object class error

which ldap server/client?
if ldap from IAS, have you used the gui setup leading 100% to a running configuration?

The errormessage is also listed within the IAS documentation.

It's openldap from the Associated Product CD volume 1.

Re: LDAP object class error

Ralf, the URL link can not be opened, but it gives me enough hints to find out where it is. Turns out I need to add an base entry to the server database to make it work.

Now the problem is how exactly can I initiate passwd authetication on the server?
The tru64v5.1B sysadmin manual does not provide enough info on this, it only gives a rough idea of setting server/client up.

are there more detailed manuals available?

again, server: openldap 2.0.33 from Associated Products CD, client: v5.1b build-in ldap client

thanks

Re: LDAP object class error

What I see in the documentation Ralf pointed to is the following:

Error: searching for object classes failed
Errors detected during directory configuration check

The LDAP configuration could not be verified. This could be either because you are using an LDAP Version 2 protocol server or because your configuration is incorrect.

Re: LDAP object class error

Ann,

if using the IAS kit there is no problem, I've seen this behaviour very often. Customer playing around instead of using the bundled and preconfigured IAS kit which works without a problem, coming with web gui and documentation.

Maybe a later version of 5.1B-? will add all the IAS parts onto the associated product cd's (sound like "the last incarnation of Tru64" ;-) ).
