Re: using acl under vxfs

Hi:

You must be running HP-UX 11x and OnlineJFS Vrsn 3.3 (3.1 will not work). You can upgrade from 3.1 to 3.3. You then use the getacl and setacl commands.

Re: using acl under vxfs

Hi:

First, JFS (VxFS) supports ACLs on JFS 3.3.

Take a look at the section titled "Managing Access to Files and Directories" in the "Managing Systems and Workgroups: A Guide for HP-UX System Administrators" manual:

Re: using acl under vxfs

HI
Check your vxfs version
#fstype -v /dev/vgXX/lvolYY

You need to be running HP-UX 11x with OnlineJFS Version 3.3. The getacl and setacl commands will help you to get/set acls.

Thaks.

Re: using acl under vxfs

JFS3.3 is sufficient to have ACLs. Online Version is a Luxury.

Following document talks about ACLs on JFS3.3 in detail.

I inform everybody that the I have an HP server
with the 10.20 version of HP_UX. And I don't have a JFS.
There is any other solution

Re: using acl under vxfs

You say you have 10.20 and don't have JFS. But in your first question you said you have a vxfs filesystem you want to use ACLs with.

JFS & VxFS are the same thing. You can use either term when talking about the same filesystem or LV.

Now, to answer your question, you can't use ACLs with JFS/VxFS on 10.20. It isn't supported.

As has been said, ACLs are supported with JFS 3.3 on 11.0 and 11i.

Here is information on JFS 3.3 if you are interested:
