smartarray config question

Is it possible to change the SCSI ID from 7 to 6 on the older 2DH (or any) Compaq smart array controller cards? I'd like to be able to share a scsi array between two servers. (clustered configuration).

Any help would be appreciated.

No this is not possible. You can't use those older Smart controllers in a cluster. HP used to have a product called the S100 cluster that supported a limited # of Smart Controllers, but that product only supported NT 4 and has been discontinued for quite some time now.

Re: smartarray config question

Do any of the Compaq controllers allow this? (ie 3200, 4200 series...)

If not, how can you do clustering on compaq? (other than FC san...)

Thanks,

Re: smartarray config question

Basically none of the Smart controllers are going to support clustering. For sure, FC with MSA1000/1500 or EVA storage.

The only SCSI solution is the MSA500 or MSA500 G2.

Check http://www.hp.com/servers/proliant/highavailability for more info on what is supported.
