AD integration - "Management Processor Rights" greyed out

Trying to get Active Directory integration working. I've followed all the steps in the integration guide, and everything seems fine - directory test works fine, apart from the User Authorization test. I can't set the rights on the Role object from the AD Users & Computers MMC; all the options are there, but they're all greyed out.

Schema is fine, and I've tried it even as the domain administrator, but with no success. Can anyone suggest what's wrong?
