If the HP management agents for VMware are installed this name change will occur on its own.

I am having the same issue with both bl465's and bl685's we have already updated the firmware on the enclosure, the server ilo and updated the bios but the server name still appends the model and only the model is displayed in the name of the device bay.

The HP management agents propagate the server name to iLO. I do not believe that there are VMWare agents that do this, so you would have to manually assign the server name in iLO. Of course, not running the management agents will also have the same effect.

Reboot the server:
Go to The RBSU by pressing F9,
Server Asset text,
Server info text,
Server Name.
Provide the name (Desired name)it will be reflected in OA under device bays.
