Unknown iLO password

A DL380 G3 has a password in the iLO... I can't get in to it at all. How to reset?

If you are able to reboot the system, access it with F8 during POST.

If you are unable to reboot the system, it can be reset from the host OS using HPONCFG.

It asks for a password when I press F8 That's the problem... :-)

There is a security override switch then. Check the inside of the hood cover or page 18 of the user guide for the System Maintenance Switch.

Tou have a few options:
1) use the iLO security override switch. This will allow access to RBSU, and there you can set the password as desired.
Note: you cannot extract the current password.

2) you can reset iLO to defaults, and the password will be set according to the hood label.

3) use the online host-based scripting utility, HPONCFG, and a "set password" script from within the OS on the host to set the desired password or to create a user account with known credentials.
