Adding APC UPS units to Insight Manager 5.3

At the weekend we added 6 of these units into our server room. We gave them sequential IP addresses, configured the SNMP traps and then added the IP range to HPSIM for discovery.
HPSIM discovers only the units with odd-numbered IP addresses! We used IPs .1 .2 .3 .4 .5 .6 as final octet, and only 1 3 and 5 show up as discovered. If you swap IP addresses (ie 1 and 2) then delete the HPSIM entries and rediscover, the opposite physical unit then appears - the fault seems to follow the IP address.
The audit log in HPSIM seems to show the discovery of the even-numbered UPS units, but they do not appears in the Systems page. Any thoughts?
