Automatic Event Handling Task: schedule.
Hi i would like to send an e-mail when a critical hardware failure occurs on one of my systems. I have created and automatic event handling task with the following properties:
Task name: Hardware Critical Failures
Events:
event type is Proliant NIC Events
event type is Proliant Operating System Events
event type is Proliant Storage Events
event type is Proliant System and Environmental Events
severity is Major
Systems:
ip address is between 128.1.1.1-128.1.1.254
ip address is between 128.1.6.1-128.1.6.254
The task has never run. Do i need to schedule this task and how do i do this?
How do i test this?
Kind regards,
Frederik De Muyter.

Re: Automatic Event Handling Task: schedule.
Make sure that you havent selected the "Time filters" or Time filters is selected accordingly. Also "Options-> Event Filter settings" is configured correctly.

Re: Automatic Event Handling Task: schedule.
You might want to test a more generic trap set up first.
Set up an event handling task to catch all major and critical events and e-mail you.
Go to the HP Management Agents Gui - via Control Panel and then use the SNMP Trap send button.
This requires the SNMP Trap destination to be set to point to the HPSIM Server and should then generate a Major Event that your handling task will pick up.
