Best Practices - new install or upgrade?
We have an implementation of CIM 7.2 that isn't used much and is outdated. What are your thoughts - upgrade or fresh install of HP SIM 5?
Also, on the server hosting HP SIM 5, is it recommended to have the HP Proliant support pack already installed prior to installing SIM?
thanks.

Re: Best Practices - new install or upgrade?
Hi Brett,
Personally I found a fresh install easier to manage, just taking a list of the IP ranges for device discovery and configure/repairing the agents en masse to set SNMP details et al. We also installed this onto a server built using the latest SmartStart so the PSP was already present =)
I guess it would depend how many devices you have already configured to talk to the 7.2 installation?

Re: Best Practices - new install or upgrade?
That's my thoughts exactly. We have about 300 devices, but not all are "talking" at the moment.
PSP - i don't know that acronym.
thanks.

Re: Best Practices - new install or upgrade?
Hi Brett,
I am running version 4.2, and I am also going to do a fresh install.
PSP - Proliant Support Pack :)
