Blade cabinet and discovered names

after adding in the onboard admin, and it discovering all the devices in the enclosure, the only issue i have is with the names it discovered for the blades. everything dns wise should be fine, and all the blades are properly configured in dns, just not sure why it brings in names like:

2UX74101P5

When looking @ the onboard admin itself, it has all the blades labeled properly, so i'm not sure where insight is pulling those names from

Re: Blade cabinet and discovered names

Hi!

The names is coming from the iLO:s.
You must have the drivers for the iLO:s installed.

Try also make a discovery for the servers IP numbers.
Then will the servers info and onboard admins info go together.

Hope this will help..

Re: Blade cabinet and discovered names

So the order in which things happen then is:

1) i discover the onboard admin
2) it collects the info for all devices in the enclosure
3) if the hosts have the "ilo driver" installed, it will pull in the proper name??
4) if i then go and discover all the individual hosts it will overwrite what was discovered by the onboard admin itself????

Re: Blade cabinet and discovered names

At 4:
It will not overwrite, just complete the information and add the missing information into the device in SIM.

Re: Blade cabinet and discovered names

Hi again!

first discover onboard admin.
All
after that add/discover the server with its Operativ Systems IP adress.
If all drivers is loaded in the everything should be fine.

Re: Blade cabinet and discovered names

Hi,

Make sure on the "Edit System Properties" page that the option "Prevent the Discovery process from changing this system name" is not checked.

Then run a discovery task specifying the name of your blade server (instead of the address).
