Can't access sim at http://localhost:280/

I have installed HPSIM on a Windows 2003 sp1 system. After the installation I can access https://localhost:2381/ which brings up "System management homepage for system." The installation guide talks nothing about this page. When I try to access http://localhost:280/ I get a page not found error. If I click on system insight manager icon on the desktop I get a timer box that says checking HTTP server status. Again nothing in the doc's about this. Does anyone know what it is supposed to do?

HPSIM is typically accessed at https://HPSIMServer:50000 although the address you mention should work.

Check the HPSIM Service has started okay, it takes a while before logins will work after the initial start.

Also, you do not mention the version of HPSIM.

I have tried http://localhost:50000 and this does not work either. The package I installed was HPSIM-Win-C.05.00.01.01.exe. When I look at task manager I see that there are multiple versions of mxinventory.exe running.

Re: Can't access sim at http://localhost:280/

Hi

I had a similar issue on an older version of SIM, when you start the SIM icon, you get a pop up box that just sits there for ages.

I now have the latest version of SIM and have no such problem.

If you try and access http://localhost:280 before SIM has started properly (which it sounds like it hasnt) you will not be able to log in yet.

Also http://localhost:2381 is the local agents on the machine you are at. You will find that if you go to any machine that has the agents installed the port is 2381 for https and 2301 for http. This is only the agents not the SIM server application.

Re: Can't access sim at http://localhost:280/

Try reading through some of the logs in the \logs folder, Specifically a file name DomainManager.xyz.out.log as this may give us a a clue as to why the service is not starting properly. Do a key work search for fetal or exception or error and see what comes up. My guess is that it is something with the Database, if SIM service can not locate and query the DB you will get similar results. Did you install SQL prior to installing SIM or use an existing SQL instance or utilize MSDE?

Hi. I had installed MSDE as part of the SIM installation.
