Cannot compile Cisco/PGP MIBs

Hello all,

I have downloaded the relevant MIBs for my router from the cisco website and renamed them from .my to .mib however when I try and compile them I get the following error:

C:\Program Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager\lbin>mcompile SNMPv2-SMI-V1SMI.mib

HP Systems Insight Manager Mib Compiler, Version 5.0.2.1
Copyright (c) 2003-2006 Hewlett Packard Corporation

Compiling SNMPv2-SMI-V1SMI.mib

Line: 0: Failure to open input file SNMPv2-SMI-V1SMI.mib
Mib compilation failed.

I am a newbie to insight manager and not sure what I'm doing wrong. I assume that SIM needs the cisco MIBs to translate the SNMP traps sent to it from the cisco switch/router/firewall.

Also, I managed to compile and load MIBs from our PGP server, but when I go to SNMP trap settings to view it, it has no trap settings stored.???

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Cannot compile Cisco/PGP MIBs

The first one I'm guessing is that it's calling another MIB (an include statement or similar)
You'll need to download that MIB, and any others called as well.

"renamed them from .my to .mib"

I'm not sure what a .my file is. In order to be compiled, it needs to be a MIB text file. Also, as this identifies itself as SNMPV2, you may not be able to use this with HP SIM as it only understands SNMPV1.
