Compaq Power Management Agents vs HP Power Manager

We have a Compaq ML370 G2 connected to an R3000 XR UPS. When using the Compaq Server Agent and Compaq Power Management Agent we are able to poll the UPS via SNMP using a custom dll file. We upgraded to HP Power Manager 4.2 and now we are no longer able to poll the UPS. The UPS is currently connected to the server using a serial cable. Does anyone know why this capability has been removed from the later versions of Power Manager?
