Hi all,
We have 2 DMS servers - DMS01 and DMS02
We discover DMS01 and it shows perfectly, no issues discovering this at all.
We then discover DMS02 and this is discovered ok, but seems to remove DMS01 as this then does not show..?
If we then try and re-discover DMS01 DMS02 dissappears...?????
Anyone else had this or know why this is doing this.?
We have similar servers on other sites that have a DMS01 & DMS02 and these discover and show ok....

Re: Crazy going on...
Your the first with impact from extraordinary sun activity on to SIM ;-)
Or
You should better check your DNS entries. Reverse Lookup would fool you with very high probability.
Try nslookup of both IP addresses and nslookup of both names does it really fit?
Have a nice day

Re: Crazy going on...
Hi,
Check the serial numbers of the 2 servers inside the Systems Mgmt Homepage... I assume the serial numbers are the same.
And when they are same, SIM will overwrite the newly discovered server with the data of the old one...
There was a series of servers where a dummy serial number was entered in the BIOS... Was solved with a newer firmware but U will have to enter the serial number once manually...
Discovery will run fine afterwards
Kr,
Bart

Re: Crazy going on...
Hi Bart
Thanks for the input, that would be a very close one to the sun spots activity.
I also saw wrong serial numbers but never the same ones at the same customer.
I like this one very much.
Please let us know the real reason at the end.
Thanks in advance.

SolutionHi,
The serial number was a fake one like 1111111-111... But we had it on several (similar) servers.
As such there is no problem, untill you do a discovery in SIM... Only 1 server will be discovered, all the others 'disappear'...
Go into RBSU via ILO, change the serial number to the real one did the trick... Afterwards it worked fine...
Kr,
Bart

Re: Crazy going on...
Hi,
RBSU is Rom Based Setup Utility...
Is to configure the BIOS of the server...
U can access it by pushing F9 during the boot of the server...

Bart
