Discover linux servers remotely.

Hello,

We currently add linux servers one-by-one when we build them to the HP SIM. What I'm looking to do is script or otherwise leverage an existing HP tool to remotely (from the linux server) discover the new server into the HP SIM Database. I've found notes on mxnode being able to do this, but I can not find enough information to tell me what package I need to install on the linux side to use this or if it can even be installed on a linux server. Does anyone have any links or experience with this that might be helpful?

Thanks for reading.

Easiest way to do it is to set HP SIM to 'Automatically discover a device when an SNMP trap is received' and then make it part of your build process to send a test trap when you're ready.

To use 'mxnode' nothing is installed on the remote device (the one you want discovered). You would have to SSH back to the HP SIM CMS and run the command there.
