Discovery issues
I am having issues discovering some servers in SIM 7.1, I get the following msg, all the SNMP settings are correct, any help would be much appreciated
********* Significant issues and overall target discovery/identification
status:
Major: The system cannot be identified properly for HP SIM to manage;
unable to get one or more of the following: model, serial number or
unique identifier (UUID). For management processors, verify the
system is running the latest firmware. For Linux based operating
systems, you must have dmidecode installed, enable the
PermitRootLogin and PasswordAuthentication in sshd, and use root
sign-in credential. For HP-UX, verify the sign-in credential. For
Windows, check if WMIMapper is configured correctly on the CMS and
verify the sign-in credential.

Re: Discovery issues
Hi looks like there is something wrong with your system creditials. You can chcek it in Options > Security > Creditials > Global or System Creditials (it depends on which one you are using).

Martin

Re: Discovery issues
Can you paste the complete log, i don't see the snmp entry. Do you also use wbem ?
Check which management protocols are listed in sim when you click on the node.
Most servers would have smh2.0, snmp and wbem. The protocols tell you which protocols are discovered during identification.
Kind regards,
Andrew

Re: Discovery issues
1. Are you trying to scan Windows or linux or unix machines?
2. If you are using Linux, user account should have root privilleges, to run dmidecode. su to the account, which you are using to scan the machine and try dmidecode.
