Disk Threshold Question

Is it possible to set disk thresholds on non-HP servers? When I try, I get the following error:
"Could not set the disk threshold, the agent did not accept the request."

To be specific, one needs Proliant 3xx series and up + PSP (IM Agents, SMH, etc)
