Do HP devices automatically send events to SIM?

Do HP devices automatically send events to SIM?

So there seems to be many MIBs included by default with HP SIM.  I am a little confused if these are automatically activated.  For example, will my HP 1500 G3 UPS notify me of events or do I need to set the SNMP setting on the HP Power Manager?  Please advise.

You always have to set SNMP settings if your SIM is to be notified.

And of course you also have to discover your UPS in SIM to get the status from it.

As a bonus I can explain you what a MIB is. It is simply just a compiler to translate the error code the device sends via SNMP. The MIB is just a config text file that translate the advanced SNMP string to a format SIM can understand.

I hopes it helps you :)

You must manually set the SNMP agents on any device (HP or otherwise) to send traps to your CMS ;)
