ESX 3.0.2 Unused NICs reporting Failure

Hi all,

We have two ESX Servers with HP Agents 7.80 installed. In Insight Manager and on the SHM the two unused NIC's are reported with the orange Icon. Can i somehow configure the NIC Agents witch Interfaces to monitor?

I have the same problem.
DL380G5 and NC364T with only 2 ports used, the other ports are reported with link down in HP SIM.
Howto disabled this?

Even when you shut down the Interface in the Console, the Agent still reporting a failure...

Hope this will be fixed in the next release.

I use the ifconfig command on the console to shut the nic's down.

Type 'ifconfig', it will display all your nics.
Look for the ones that aren't transmitting (TX/RX should be 0)

Then type 'ifconfig nic down' (where nic is the name of the nic)

This seems to work most of the time, but it doesn't hold after a reboot, so I usually have to do them all over again. Luckily VMware hosts are rarely rebooted.

As a work around you can run a normal network cable from one port to another and "fool" the network cards, making them appear to be on a network. The gigabit standard creates a crossover connection when you use a normal non-crossover network cable.
