ESX 4.0, HP SIM and Standby Mode

Hi all

We're introducing HP SIM into our ESX environment. I've managed to get the system homepage and agents etc installed fine (v8.30). We are currently introducing ESX 4.0 and we are running HP SIM 5.3 with SP1.

What I'd like to know is, is there anyway of getting HP SIM to differentiate between a host becoming uncontactable (ie dieing) and the host being put into Standby Mode? Is there an SNMP trap that is put out by either the host or the VSphere VCenter? If the VCenter does, how could I relate the trap to the relevant device / event in HP SIM?

We are keen to use the Dynamic Power Management functionality of VSphere, but this obviously causes many of our v4.0 hosts to look like they've gone offline instead of into Standby Mode.

I don't know of any way to get HPSIM to relate different traps.
I think the way to do it would be to suspend monitoring of the host based on an event driven from vCenter and resume monitoring based on the wake-up event.

I don't know if it's possible to suspend monitoring of a server from a command line.
