I have ESX 3.5 (No Updates)server that when I log onto the system manaement homepage it tell me the server model is unknown. Ports 2301,2381,280 are open. As far as I can tell SMNP is configured. It does allow me to set the trusted management server and SIM does not see any of the guests on it. I loaded version 8.1 of the management pack. It is a Proliant DL385. Any suggestions that might help me see the hardware on the system management home page and also see its guests in SIM?

Solution
Run an ID task to ensure it is able to access SNMP.
With those ports open, snmp correctly configured and the latest agents it should work.
Search this forum, there have been a number of posts covering snmp and there are snmp examples you can compare with.

Reinstalled Management Agents and reset SNMP settings
