Failed to install VC Repository

I'm receiving the below error (from the installation log) when attempting to install the Verson Control Repository.

The first attempt at installing it:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Setup Session Beginning 7/26/2006 - 17:03:19 PM
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Command Line Parameters Given:

Beginning Interactive Session...

Name: HP Version Control Repository Manager
New Version: 2.1.5.760

The software is installed but is not up to date.

Current Version: Unknown

Automatic update has been specified in the settings, but no files can be
downloaded until at least one Version Control Agent is configured to use
this Version Control Repository Manager. Please check Version Control
Agent settings to insure proper operation of the automatic update feature.

The operation was not successful.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
End Session
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

And the second attempt at installing it:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Setup Session Beginning 7/27/2006 - 9:21:42 AM
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Command Line Parameters Given:

Beginning Interactive Session...

Name: HP Version Control Repository Manager
New Version: 2.1.5.760

The software is installed but is not up to date.

Current Version: Unknown

The operation was not successful.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
End Session
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any clues? The error message/log is not very helpful. This is from SIM 5 SP5.

Re: Failed to install VC Repository

Rilex,
You have configured the automatic update settings in VCRM, but VCRM doesnt know what PSP's to download from hp site. So for that you need to configure at least one VCA to point to the VCRM system and then VCRM will know that it has to download the support pack for the requesting VCA Operating system.
(Example: If you configure VCA running on a Windows Server 2003 system, then VCRM will download Windows Server 2003 support pack and if you want windows 2000 then configure vca running on windows 2000 to point to this repository)

You can see in add/remove programs or browse to SMH and verify if VCRM has been installed or not.

Hope this helps.

Re: Failed to install VC Repository

I'm a little confused, because when I attempt to install the VCRM, it fails to install. While the VCRM shows up on the system as having a page you can go to, when you click on it to manage it it just goes to a page cannot be found message.

I've done the install before on another system and I don't recall having these issues! :)

Re: Failed to install VC Repository

On which OS you are trying to install?
Does VCRM show up in the Add/Remove programs? Try restarting the VCRM service and see if it comes up?

Re: Failed to install VC Repository

Installing on 2003 SP1. Yes, it does show, however when attempting to remove it Windows kicks back the error that it isn't installed and would you like to remove it from the Add/Remove Programs list.

Re: Failed to install VC Repository

I got it working! I think your advise makes sense now that I followed through with it (Install the VCA, /then/ configure the VCRM).
