HP-SIM 5.0 and Solaris

I have been asked to see if HP-SIM will work with the Solaris systems. Is this possible?

Re: HP-SIM 5.0 and Solaris

Depends what you want and what hardware platform you're on.

Agents are available for Solaris X86 on an HP Proliant Server. See:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/index.html

But if you're talking Solaris on Sun Servers, then you'll get limited monitoring functionality.
Up/Down, plus if you can find the relevent MIB's to compile into HPSIM then you could set up SNMP on the Solaris Boxes to send SNMP Traps to HPSIM and they'd get decoded.
Sun Boxes are not identified by default by HPSIM, you'll need to do that via the Manage System Types tool in HPSIM.

...in addition to SNMP for traps, you should check into using WBEM Services for Solaris for HP SIM to be able to collect configuration data.
