HP SIM 5.01 - Move Remote Database and Reconfigure
Also, is there a set way to move the database besides backing up the files and restoring them to the new server?
Thanks,
Bob

Re: HP SIM 5.01 - Move Remote Database and Reconfigure
Might provide the guidelines.
For documentation on HPSIM, go to www.hp.com/go/hpsim and follow the link to the reference library.
How you copy a database depends more on the database than it does HPSIM. You'd need to look at the tools for the database being used.

Re: HP SIM 5.01 - Move Remote Database and Reconfigure
this is the procedure for SQL server:
1) Stop HPSIM
2) Detach your database
3) copy it to the new server
4) attach the database on the new server
5) check the database.props file, you can find it in:
C:\Program Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager\config\
Look at the following parameters and change them depending on the server/instance name. This file might be slightly different for Oracle, certainly the port number will be different.
hp.Database.databaseName=Insight_v50_0_15629608
hp.Database.dsn=Insight_v50_0
hp.Database.hostName=HPSIM
hp.Database.instance=HPSIM\\
hp.Database.jdbcDriver=net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver
hp.Database.jdbcUrlPrefix=jdbc\:jtds\:sqlserver
hp.Database.portNumber=1433
6) Start HPSIM again.

Re: HP SIM 5.01 - Move Remote Database and Reconfigure
I've also read the hpsim_5_migrationNewSystem.pdf, but therein I cannot find my solution.
Any suggestions?
