HP SIM 5.1

My discovered Management Processors are not resolving their DNS name, but they are existing on the dns server...

Options -> System Security -> System Link Configuration

USE THE SYSTEM'S FULL DNS NAME

PS:don't ferget to apply you're point ,it next to every message in you re thread ,next date and time,mark as UNASSIGNED.

Joris,

I needed to do the following to get my management processors to discover correctly.

1.) Configure each iLO on it's management page. I use static, but you can use DDNS. Ensure that "DDNS Server Registration" is enabled under Settings >> Network >> DHCP/DNS Settings.

2.) Test both forward (A record) and reverse (PTR record) resolution. You should be able to test this from the server on which you run the SIM application.

3.) Delete all references to the management processor(s) in question and do another discovery.

Assuming you don't have another problem, such as routing issues, they should show up correctly. You might also need to enable the System Link change mentioned above, if your workstation isn't able to resolve only a hostname. Change it to use FQDN.
