HP SIM 6.0 integration to NNM
Recently, HP SIM deployed in our environment (SIM 6.0 on Win 2003 server).
For now, we want this SIM alerting system forwarded to the our existing NNM (ver 7.5. on HP-UX 11.11 server)
Is it possible this 2 software communicate each other?
Could someone share his/her experience in integrating this SIM & NNM.
Kindly appreciate for the solutions (point will be awarded).
Thanks.

Re: HP SIM 6.0 integration to NNM
Yes, You can use SIM event automation to forward snmp traps to your nnm server.
But you should first check with the main user of the two products which are the main use case for them.
e.g. If the NNM server has already a pager alerting or service desk integration the simplest solution could be only forward events like service events to HP.
Or you want to tell the SIM users that an important network segment is broken. In this case you do the filtering of events on the NNM side end you send a trap with the summary to the SIM server.
You should also consult the www.hp.com/go/hpsim ->HP SIM Ecosystem
To get some ideas about the integration possibilites with other products.

Re: HP SIM 6.0 integration to NNM
Thanks for your reply. But, i'm not so sure about your explanation on integration with Service Desk.
For now, we want all SIM alert forearded & managed by NNM, and then, based on their severity (ex. critical), will automatically trigger an email to the respective user.
How can i do that?
what should i do with NNM & SIM configuration?
It will very helpful if you can give me some reference links/documents.
Again, Thanks.

Re: HP SIM 6.0 integration to NNM
The forwarding is very simple
you go to inside HP SIM into the Options->Events ->Automatic Event Handling -> New Task it should be self explaining.
In the Action plane you can select trap forwarding to your NNM server.
Try a test trap from one of your system which is connected to the SIM and should see a trap inside SIM and after some time in your NNM Console.
If you need more elegant handling of the traps you need to read the NNM documentation. You can find the NNM Docs at http://support.openview.hp.com/ -> Manuals
The SIM docs are at http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/hpsim/infolibrary.html or www.hp.com/go/hpsim -> Information Library.
Normally it makes no sens to forward all the events from SIM to NNM but you should explain more about your environment.(What kind of Systems are managed by SIM and what kind of systems Proliant, Blades, Integrity server, EVA Storage?)

Re: HP SIM 6.0 integration to NNM
@sekar: thanks for your response. but our SIM & NNM version are different with yours (SIM: 6.0 & NNM: 7.50).
Currently, i'm trying to integrate SIM to the OVOU (ver 8.31 on HPUX 11.11). I've installed OVO agent on the SIM server, deploy OS-SPI & HPSIM integration tools and also configure SNMP traps destination (in SIM server) to OVO server.
But, it still not working :(
All HP SIM related alert not shown up in the OVO Message Browser.
Need some advice.
Thanks.

Re: HP SIM 6.0 integration to NNM
Options->Events -> Automatic Event Handling-> Manage Task
Select your automation task and click task results.
If you see successful task you need to check if the traps are really transported to your NNM or OVOM server.

Re: HP SIM 6.0 integration to NNM
It's solved now, after installing SIM-OVO Integration tools and, grant the Integration tools application to respective users.
Thank you for all support :)
