HP SIM 7.2 + ESXi 5.1
Hi there
We are having difficulty managing ESXi 5.1 hosts, even using the HP Custom Image.
We have just built a new server running 7.2, but this is the same as the old environment.....
Thanks

Re: HP SIM 7.2 + ESXi 5.1
So, to update! I've just installed the latest and greatest Custom Image (VMware-ESXi-5.1.0-799733-HP-5.34.23.iso)
Discovered the host in SIM:
Major: The system cannot be identified properly for HP SIM to manage;
unable to get one or more of the following: model, serial number or
unique identifier (UUID). For management processors, verify the
system is running the latest firmware. For Linux based operating
systems, you must have dmidecode installed, enable the
PermitRootLogin and PasswordAuthentication in sshd, and use root
sign-in credential. For HP-UX, verify the sign-in credential. For
Windows, check if WMIMapper is configured correctly on the CMS and
verify the sign-in credential.
Any ideas?

Re: HP SIM 7.2 + ESXi 5.1
Hi EMEASupport
Check if your CIMMON is running, ESXi Firewall settings are correct and you have defined the credential.
I did not yet tested 7.2 but in the past you need to enable the root login to get all the system information (serial Number ...)
You will find a lot of hints in the HP SIM Forums. Depending on your goals you can even see the VM's hosted on the ESXi.
Have fun searching or ask HP support or even better check the Insight Remote Support Managed device manual Version 5.70 or 5.80 there you will find very useful information. I am not sure if a similar document exists already for IRS 7.x
I like your user name ;-)

Re: HP SIM 7.2 + ESXi 5.1
Hi
We are running fine with hosts on 4.1 and 5.0, it's just 5.1 hosts which don't seem to play.
I can telnet to the 5.1 servers on port 5989 without issue.....

Re: HP SIM 7.2 + ESXi 5.1
I hope you have the CIMSERVER running and have the right credentials in place with Firewall disabled.
Check if the same is running in Lockdown Enabled mode.

Re: HP SIM 7.2 + ESXi 5.1
Hi,
My ESXi 5.1 host running on a BL460 G6 is perfectly detected and recognized by my SIM 7.2... No special settings or so, just add the right credentials to connect to the ESXi host, ESXi is the latest HP custom image from the VMware website...
Kr,
Bart

Re: HP SIM 7.2 + ESXi 5.1
The server will go into SIM with no problems and the WBEM subscribes fine its just the alerts. Windows servers are working fine so the SIM configuration is ok.
Seems to be the bundle. I have also tried the HP image and been on the phone to HP support for 2.5 hours.
