HP SIM able to send "life signs" regulary ?
hello,
i'm using HP SIM 5.0 on SLES 10 SP1 to monitor 3 ProLiant ML 350.
Is it possible to configure SIM in a way that it sends regulary (e.g. once per day) an email as a "life sign" ?
Background is that our SMTP-Server stopped working for half an hour some days ago. HP SIM seemed loosing connection to the SMTP-Server, all mails after the crash of the SMTP-Server were pending, although the SMTP-Server was working again. SIM seemed not being able to recover the connection again. I created some hw-failures manually (e.g. switching off power from a redundant power supply), but didn't get any emails more, althoug the smtp-server was running again. So, in the worst case, i would have a HW-failure without being informed. :-(
If i would get a life sign once per day from SIM, and i would not get it any more, i know i had to look.
Any ideas ?
Bernd

Re: HP SIM able to send "life signs" regulary ?
Hello Bernd,
Sorry, I am not aware if that can be done. Perhaps Someone else can answer that.
As I read, "SIM seemed not being able to recover the connection again" ....
You can reset SIM, without Re-installing it.
Use the Command :
mxconfigrepo â a
This Will restore the Default Database.
Regards,
James.
