HP SIM & HP SCOM Management Pack - Major difference?
What is the main difference in terms of "alerting" if i install 'HP SIM' & if i buy 'HP SCOM Management Pack' (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03332702.pdf) which can be imported in Microsoft SCOM to monitor HP hardwares in my clients infrastructure?
I guess, i framed the question correctly. Can anyone suggest pls?
Regards

Re: HP SIM & HP SCOM Management Pack - Major difference?
The SCOM MP is free os don't pay anything for it!
The difference is that the SCOM MP reports to the SCOM server. The MP tells the SCOM server how to configure the SCOM agent on the box to pick up all the HP events logged to the windows event log. This is how it detects issues. You still need the HP WBEM agent or HP Insight Management agents installed though to generate those events.
