HP SIM and managing secured DC's

Is it possible to manage domain controllers in HP SIM if the AD team admins will not give you  Administrator access to these servers?

Once the management agents (either wbem or snmp) are installed (which does require admin rights) you can monitor the server without needing admin rights.

It's a little more complicated, but it can be done.

Thank you Sander-A. Which protocol would you reccomend using SNMP or WBEM once I get access to the domain controllers?

Re: HP SIM and managing secured DC's

WBEM is supposed to be more secure, but I use SNMP since its simpler and easier to troubleshoot from a networking perspective.

With SNMP you only need 2 ports open whereas WBEM requires a lot more and generally you want another Windows account to access it.

I would use SNMP in your case.
