HP SIM backup
I have installed HP SIM 5.2 with Update 2 on Redhat AS 4 server.
I would like to backup HP SIM each night so that I can easily install it on
this or any other server with all my configurations intact. Can I do this via
the web interface? Or do I need to do it at the Linux level? Do I need to
backup the postgresql database?
Thanks for any suggestions?

Re: HP SIM backup
hi,
you would do it at the linux level and yes backup the postgres db as well , i think it can be done with it up but probably best to stop hp sim briefly while you do it.

Re: HP SIM backup
Go to the HP SIM Information library
(http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/hpsim/infolibrary.html)
and read the document "Backing up and restoring HP SIM 5.2 data files in an HP-UX or Linux environment"
http://h10018.www1.hp.com/wwsolutions/misc/hpsim-helpfiles/hpsim-backingupHPUXlinux-52.pdf
"The procedures in this paper are for backing up and restoring HP SIM core data only from/to the same PostgreSQL database. It is not intended to be used as an example for reinstallation of HP SIM or for data migration."
If anyone knows how to best migrate an existing HP SIM 5.2(Linux) to new hardware, I would be glad to know...
