Solution1. can we install HP SIM on a virtual machine.
- HPSIM can be installed on either Virtual machine and Physical machine there is no difference.
2. what is the diffrence in performance if we install SIM on a virtual machine or a physical machine.
Performance of HPSIM depends on the CPU and Memory allocated to it. VM or Physical makes no difference.
3. Is it neccessary to install all the agents on the same machine, can we install the agents on diffrent machines.
On the CMS (HPSIM), No it is not required to install the agents on the same machine.
For HPSIM to manage a node using SNMP it requires PSP pack / SNMP Agents on the target node.
For WMI You can have WMI Mapper installed on the CMS to manage the Windows machine using WMI.

Re: HP SIM, difference between installing SIM in virtual machine or physical machine.
You can install HP SIM on VM as others have said.
There is a down side, if using Hyper-V.
You can install HP Insight Remote Support, however it will not register.
HP Insight Remote Support requires the ability to pull information from the Hardware it runs on.
Why this is required is anyone's guess. They did make a hack to allow it to run on VMware servers.
Just something to be aware of.
