HP SIM needs too much time to send event mails

Hi guys,

last week some of our servers were shutted off because of a power supply failure. It was at about 2pm. I got the event handling emails at around 2.15 pm so that means HP SIM needed about 15 mins to send me the event handling emails which is way too long.

How can I minimize this time?

I had a look in my hardware polling configuration but I'm just using the default values.

I would check the SIM Server with enable unregistered events to be sure that your server is not flowded by some strange SNMP source.  If you have Insight Remote Support on the SIM Server you should check the Memeory requirements.  Desta_Service (part of IRSA/IRSS) is famous for delays if you do not meet the memeory requirements.

The memory requirements should be fine.

I have also checked the event configuration and actually I do NOT allow unregistered events so that should be fine also, right?

Under your email settings you can send a test email, do you get this test mail a lot faster?

If you look for all your event, how many events do you for say one day?

The testmail arrives in my email folder just in the moment when I click "Send testmail".

We get around 100-200 events per day.

What is the version of SIM you use?

I have installed the latest version - 7.4

That's strange, if you also select the write to eventlog does this take just as long?

It's an option when you create a rule and what SIM needs to do with it. Just like the forward to email rule. You did use the build-in rule for your email notification right?
