HP SIM says system exists when it doesn't.
Trying to add a server by name to main HP SIM console and it says it already exists but it doesn't. HP SIM server can ping the sever by name. If I try and add it by ip address it doesn't complain, says it's trying to add the system but when I select All Systems and order either by ip address or name, the server doesn't exist. If it does already exist in HP SIM then where has it hidden the device? Running HP SIM 4.2 SP2.
Thanks

Re: HP SIM says system exists when it doesn't.
That's an old version of HPSIM.
If it's like HPSIM 5 you can filter discovery so that Unknown or Unmanaged devices are not listed.
Another possibility is that there's a duplicate DNS entry. So the lookup might be returning a different address.

Re: HP SIM says system exists when it doesn't.
Certainly no duplicate DNS entry. New server with a new name. Neither the server nor the IP address appear in any device lists, even the All systems list.
Can't see any way to filter discovery either.
