HP Systems Insight Manager 5.1 is very very slow

I installed HP SIM on the following type of PC:

Processors: 1
Processor speed: 2.7 GHz
Processor type: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU
Physical memory: 504 MB

I will say, the app looks very promising, however, it runs very very very slow. It is painfully slow. Anyone have any ideas or thoughts on how to spead this puppy up? thanks.

HP SIM has a suggested minimum configuration of 768MB RAM and recommends at least 1.5GB of RAM (from the QuickSpecs at --> QuickSpecs).

There is a complete sizing application at --> Technical Support --> "Configuration information for sizing your SIM server"

In general, HP SIM is more I/O intensive than CPU intensive. Your processor is probably more than enough horsepower. However, since you say your memory is 504MB, I'm going to assume that you might have a budget PC that shares 8MB of memory for the video card. That might also indicate that the hard drive may not be the speediest around. From personal experience, running HP SIM on systems with hard drives less than 7200 RPM can be painful.

I have a demo system on my desk which isn't the latest around, a Compaq D510 Small Form Factor, 2.0GHz with 2GB of RAM. With its 5400RPM hard disk drive it was a bit painful to use HP SIM; with a new 250GB 7200RPM (<$100) drive it runs great.

Re: HP Systems Insight Manager 5.1 is very very slow

Thanks for the reply. I have ordered another 2 GB or RAM for a total of 2.5 for this machine. The HD is a 7200, so i should be good to go.

I'll tell you how it goes after the RAM gets installed. Thanks again.
