HP Systems Insight Manager

I have a problem with latest version of HP Systems Insight Manager. When it starts I get the message
"Checking HTTP server status"

The Timer increases and nothing happens.

The following is logged in the app log:

com.hp.mx.database.DbVerificationException: Error loading database verification handler 'com.hp.mx.database.MsSqlVerificationHandler'
com.hp.mx.database.DbVerificationException: Error accessing database

Any ideas please ?
It was working fine last week.

Chrs
Ben.

Re: HP Systems Insight Manager

Did you change the password for the account context under which the SIM service runs?

Re: HP Systems Insight Manager

I have checked your resolution to my question using the follwoing ref: http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=967239

I dont understand how to use this command.
Do I type:

mxpassword -r -x MxDBUserPassword
then type:
mxpassword -a -x MxDBUserPassword=

as when I do this it doesnt seem to do anything ?

Thanks

Re: HP Systems Insight Manager

Here's the man page for the mxpassword command:
http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/hpsim/info-library5/mxpassword.1m.html

I had this problem a while ago, and I just ran "mxpassword -a -x MxDBUserPassword=". I didn't use the -r switch. Then I just restarted the service, and that seemed to fix it.

Re: HP Systems Insight Manager

This is driving me bats now...!
I have used mxpassword -l to list the password and it is the same as the domain account used to start the service so I cant see what the problem is ...?

Only thing I can thing of is the DB that HP SIM uses is located on a seperate server - should this matter ?

Many thanks
Ben
