HP agents stop SNMP polling

I have 2 servers - both Prloaint DL360. One is a G5 and the other a G^
Both servers run Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2, Standard Edition Service Pack 2
Both have SQL
SNMP is installed and working.
When I add the HP agents SNMP stop listening on port 161 and can not be polled Traps are sent without a problem
As soon as I uninstalled the agents SNMP begins listening on 161 again
I have tried this with agents 8.6 back to 8.3 and it is the same problem
After installing the agents there is a SNMP event 1501
The SNMP Service encountered an error while setting up the incoming transports.\n The IP transport has been dropped out.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated. I do not yet know how many servers are affect

Re: HP agents stop SNMP polling

HI Mathew,

Use repair agent option in HP SIM to install/add required agents

Check this guide to see what repair agent option does
http://h10018.www1.hp.com/wwsolutions/misc/hpsim-helpfiles/repairAgents_5.pdf

The Systems Insight Manager Configure or Repair Agents tool is a quick and easy way to configure Linux, HP-UX and Windows managed systems to communicate with Systems Insight Manager from a Windows CMS.

To run Configure or Repair Agents remotely against multiple systems simultaneously, you must have authorizations to run the Configure or Repair Agents tool.

IN HP SIM 6.0 onwards it is there in Configure
Select Configure >> Configure or Repair Agents

Hope this helps,

thanks,
Aftab
