Handling Problems With HP SIM On Linux
Hy all,
I installed HP SIM on a SLES11 SP2 VM x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux VM.
My questions:
-Why does my SIM on Linux not collect as much data as a SIM configured on Windows
-Why is the SIM only sending mail when an “Uncleared Event Status” occurred? If I shut down a blade server it shows a critical “Health Status” but I don’t receive a mail and my CMS is not escalation to our monitoring tool. (SPP 8.7 is installed)
Regards,
Johnny

Re: Handling Problems With HP SIM On Linux
Why does my SIM on Linux not collect as much data as a SIM configured on Windows
- If the difference in data is in respect to Windows Nodes then it is because Linux CMS needs Remote WMI Proxy to be discovered / added. Option -> Protocol -> Wmi Proxy (u have to provide the IP of a Windows Node having WMI Mapper Installed).
Why is the SIM only sending mail when an “Uncleared Event Status” occurred? If I shut down a blade server it shows a critical “Health Status” but I don’t receive a mail and my CMS is not escalation to our monitoring tool. (SPP 8.7 is installed)
- Email is send based on an Event, which can be viewed inside All Events (it can be Trap, Indication, CMS Event). Hardware Status is responsible for the Health Status of the node and there is no event generated but the state of the node is changed. But this is good point to be considered.
