Re: How does HP SIM work with ESXi to monitor HP hardware?
VMware has a PDF about monitoring ESXi with SIM: http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/VMware-ESXi-HPProLiantServers-WP-EN.pdf
In order to install the necessary agents on ESXi you need the HP agents, see http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/software/vmware/esxi-image.html

Re: How does HP SIM work with ESXi to monitor HP hardware?
Honestly, since we monitor VMware-specific events with other tools, I have "turned off" the VMware stuff in SIM and disabled the discovery of virtual guests when a host discovery is run. I can't say there are good or bad points about this, we simply aren't using it. For us, SIM is hardware only, as you have mentioned. We didn't see a value in having guess in the database.. it just cluttered things up a bit.

Re: How does HP SIM work with ESXi to monitor HP hardware?
Thanks Joost, this is what I need to beef up and prepare my VMware environment.
