How to Monitor VMware Guests through Insight Manager?
We have a 100+ GSX and ESX Servers using HP DL380 G3/G4 Servers as hosts. We are using HP Insight Manager to monitor the VMware OSTS, but we need to monitor the VMware GUESTS. How??? Does HP have an agent to do this?

Re: How to Monitor VMware Guests through Insight Manager?
See "Deploying a VMware Virtual Infrastructure with HP ProLiant servers, storage, and management" from http://www.hp.com/servers/activeanswers -->
Infrastructure solutions --> VMware for server consolidation and virtualization and see the section starting on page 27 called 'VM management with HP SIM.'
Additionally, HP sells the ProLiant Essentials Virtual Machine Management Pack plug-in for HP SIM that goes beyond basic monitoring of VMs and puts control of VMs into HP SIM, associates virtual to physical, provides performance snapshots and even can be used to interface with VMware capabilities like Vmotion if available. More info at http://www.hp.com/servers/manage --> Virtual Machine Management Pack

Re: How to Monitor VMware Guests through Insight Manager?
There are no Agents for the hosts as such.
You do tend to lose some of the threshold monitoring and reporting i.e disk usage.
But using WBEM this data is picked up and stored in the database. As an example I run a weekly report on disks using more than 80% disk space, and the VM Guests are picked up as well.
A lot o what the Agents do is hardware related, and there is no hardware involved with the guests, the ESX Agents are used for that.
I seem to recall one poster installed the HP Workstation Agents on the VM Guests and improved their reporting and notification.

Re: How to Monitor VMware Guests through Insight Manager?
As already pointed out HP's Virtual machine manager is the solution you are looking for. You suggest that you are anyway using SIM ,have you installed VMM /VMS that comes as part of SIM? The product is integrated with the SIM and has some free license for you to try out the functionality. You dont need any additional agent to be installed on the guest however the host system would require a VMM agent to be installed.
