How to configure GSM Modem in SIM for SMS alerting?

Hi forum,
it is possible to use SMS-Alerting from SIM via GSM-Modem? Or this feature is for ISDN devices only?
My config:
- my GSM-Modem attached to COM1
- Automatic Event handling -> Modem Settings defined to COM1.
- Auto Event Handler defined to page all events to sim-admin account
- pager information on sim-admin account is:
phone number : of targed mobile +49160123456789
PIN number: is PIN from targed mobile device
Message length: 100
Baud rate: 9600
Data format: 7bit, No parity, 1 stop bit

In additional to paging I configured the mail sending to this event handler.
I get mails, but no SMS...
What is wrong? Any ideas?

HP SIM is assuming that the modem uses the old standard "AT" command set for modems. If yours does not and/or you have a utility supplied by the modem or your service provider, you might consider using an external command to call the modem and pass the parameters.

Hi David,
1. How can I find out is my modem supported old AT command set or not? I connected Siemens M55 mobile to RS232 port. It answers with correct output in Hyperterminal to ATZ, AT+CGSN, AT+CPAS commands.
2. Is there compatibility list for HP-SIM reg. supported modems?
3. I ordered GSM-Modem Wavecom 1306B. Is it compatible to SIM?

I'll barge in to give my two cents here ..

Have you thought about using a smsgateway for this. Works a treat for me!

So instead of using a serial attached device to send the message , you email the message to smsgateway that does the sending part.
Read thorugh this if interested.
