Hi.
Is it possible to disable certain notifications of specific events like (SNMP) Cluster Resource Degraded (15005)?
Greetings,
Pootch.

SolutionYes, but some times dangerous. You can disable a specific event under options->events -> SNMP Trap Settings -> select the mib name -> select the specific trap you like and change the trap handling from yes to no
This will stop the event handling of this trap for all systems.
Don't complain about about to much damaged engine in your car fleet if you disable all your low oil warning lights;-)
I would use a different approach e.g. auto clear the event for the system which has the specific situation. options -> event automation -> new task

Re: How to disable notifications of specific events?
I have tried out the Automatic Event Handler, but it is not possible to priorize it. The Hp Sim will clear those events, but still is sending those notifications per mail.

Re: How to disable notifications of specific events?
Have checked that the the event automation which is sending the e-mail is based on uncleared events?
e.g. Major and critical uncleared events.

Re: How to disable notifications of specific events?
Hi,
if you have an automatic Event Task which sends Emails, you can also customize the Event Collection from which the task will send the events to an email adress!
(You can choose in the event collection properties "search for events where event type is not <specify event>")
Regards,
Ville

Re: How to disable notifications of specific events?
Is there is way by which we can disable events for a few set of devices....(not all systems)
As per Pootch query & BPE reply - Events will be disabled for "All Systems"?

Re: How to disable notifications of specific events?
Not as far as I know but there is a workaround.
You can disable all events from one IP or
you can disable a particular event from all system.
The workaround for your problem could be
an automatic event task which clears a particular event for one system.

Re: How to disable notifications of specific events?
Hope to see a "fixed" workaround in such a situation from HP SIM upcoming releases as on a daily basis customers request to disable a particular alert generating form a particular device
The workaround you have given will clear off the event from HP SIM console but at the same time operations people will get an automated mail too
Regards

Re: How to disable notifications of specific events?
Our experience is very good if you specify only messages on uncleared events to the operators.
But your right I never checked SIM on event automation task execution order.
Perhaps we are just lucky with our implementation.
Thanks for your input.
and a happy 2013
