How to watch for startup/shutdown of servers?

A newbie question: in which category of events can i found the "cold start","link up" and RAID failure ? I wish to create a event to watch for these events?

I beleive the "POST Errors Occurred (6027)" might cover all those startup events.

I get event emailed for those from SIM every now and then. Usually related to anything during POST.

Also, "Physical Drive Status Change (3046) & (3034)" generally help with any drive failures, which covers anything relating to RAID.

You can find Cold Start and Link Up events in the category "RFC1215 SNMP Trap Events"

Regarding "RAID Failure" you may find something useful in the category "ProLiant Storage Events"

In case of a array disk failure you will get at least these events:

Logical Drive Status Change (3034)
"This trap signifies that the agent has detected a change in the status of a drive array logical drive"
Physical Drive Status Change (3036)
"This trap signifies that the agent has detected a change in the status of a drive array physical drive"
