Hp-SIM 5.1 SW version status icon always shows "VC agent not configured"

Has anyone seen this condition ? We have HP-SIm 5.1 loaded on RHEL 4, it works fine except that the software icon for each server seems to always show that the servers VC agents are unconfigured. This is not the case, but I'm at a loss to figure out why they almost always report this way.

VCRM is installed on a separate system, is there a protocol timeout value I need to adjust to have the status report properly ?

You need a trust relationship between HPSIM and SMH on the managed node for VCA to work properly.
Is that configured?

Yes the trust relationship between SIM ans SMH has been established for all servers.

This did work when HP-SIM was first built, but has stopped since.

open any SMH and check the status of VCA,

if the status is ok,
then check if your sw status polling task in HPSIM is running as per schedule.

if the VCA status in SMH is unknown,

open VCA & check the overall status, configure to VCRM & set reference support pack if needed.

Thanks, have tried these suggestions but no status change. The VCA's all show good status, and the software update task is running on schedule. However the software icons in SIM remain "unknown".

Would you consider upgrading to 5.3 U1+ HotFix kit? The release notes say 'Fixed problem with Software Status not reflecting Version Control Agent Status. This was a problem for systems without the WMI Insight Agents.'

Its' a possability, but will have to go through our CR process so it's not a short term fix.
