Hp Sim Communicaiton (2 way)
So here's my question,
in your sites does sim allow you to acknowledge hardware events?
my problem is that I have piles of servers and only one community string (which is the write community string)
I'm updating our images and I'm going to add a read community string now but shouldn't sim acknowledge events in a 2 way method?

Re: Hp Sim Communicaiton (2 way)
When it comes to community strings, here are the best practices.
HP SIM only needs to know a READ ONLY community string that it uses across the wire to retrieve information. HP SIM never performs any write information using SNMP over the wire.
For proper operation, the SNMP management agents additionally require the establishment of a READ-WRITE community string. This allows the System Management Homepage to locally do things like set thresholds, clear the IML, etc. This READ-WRITE string should not be used by HP SIM so it never traverses the wire.
Any "transactional" or "write" operations that HP SIM performs is done through secure HTTP and a certificate trust mechanism.
