ILO 5 discovery in hp sim, server is not getting discovered.
I have the current situations wiht GEN 10 systems discovered in HP SIM via ILO 5 (snmp), only ilo ip address or fqdn is added in discovery task:
1. Discovery process is adding only the ilo fqdn
2. Disovery process is adding ilo and systems itself with correct server name
3. Discovery process is adding ilo and system, but not with server name, instead it is discovered with serial number.
Usually on systems is installed w2k2016 and agentless management agent is running.
I can not find any pattern why and when is happening this, did somebody had those kind of problem with associations between server and ilo?

Re: ILO 5 discovery in hp sim, server is not getting discovered.
I think you should better use RIBCL, not only SNMP.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: ILO 5 discovery in hp sim, server is not getting discovered.
Hello Shatra,
HPE SIM does not support Gen10, you can check this customer advisory.
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-c05350303
If you want to monitor Gen10 server, you can use the "OneView, Infosight" .
For OneView:

https://www.hpe.com/us/en/what-is/oneview.html
For Infosight.

Re: ILO 5 discovery in hp sim, server is not getting discovered.
Thank you for the response and sharing the update Shatra.
I agreed hotfixes are adding capabilities for the HPE SIM 7.6, which was initially not designed for Gen10 hardware and beyond, but we are not expecting the application level development to happen beyond hotfixes.
That was the reason the Infosight/ iLO amplifier was recommended for monitoring with future as perpective.
And OneView as you know is expanding its capabilities outside the VC based environments.
The latest 'SIM76_hotfix_2020_Jan' hotfix shows
- Added support for iLO5 v2.10
- Integrated SNMP-MIBs for Gen10 hardware (MIB Kit v11.40)
Thus if you are not able to add iLO5 - follow configuration belwo with updated firmware/ hotfix with MIBs defined on - https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-a00026111en_us
If still facing issue confirm the state with screenshots/ errors to follow
